LOOK at the heading once again ..........ohh... it hurts .
The line itself signifies the pain of expectations, the pain of negative patterns, anxieties of thought arising by clinging to a fixed self or identity, which by its very nature is fluid or impermanent . Strong attachment to a sense of ego and identity has to be diminished, even overcome completely, because there is no cohesive self and moreover this personal attachment leads to psychological problems.
As we live we share our lives, our experiences with our friends and family, in return we get weight of our past experiences and association. NOW this weight generates EXPECTATIONS....and these expectations hurts!!!
When we overcome this attachment and its consequent wounds and realise the emotions in practical world, we awake to a healthy lightness and spaciousness that liberates us from clinging. It provides us a sense of freedom.
The reversal of suffering can be achieved only by practice of compassion, discipline, self-restraint, and above all, by changing of perspective.
The wider and more expansive the perspective is, the less the suffering will be.
We are all part of a whole web of interrelated social and ecological relationships that are not linear but mutually reinforcing. So we should not focus on the attachment to different elements; it should be the process of interrelationships.
With feelings of attraction or aversion, ego arises. There is a sense of something to defend, represent or enhance. But remember,
“Self is nothing by itself, it is actually interplay of aggregated elements”
By that i can say that we need to deconstruct our imagined self into its parts and live life without too much attachments because its the interplay that really matters.
We should learn to let go and not hold on to experiences and their constructions as they are here today and gone tomorrow and in a way, not real.
Yet it is also true that these experiences and their consequences including patterns of behaviour define our personality. These patterns arising right from our birth and through the story of our life create a strong impact on our mind and body, and in our belief and behaviour.
Our life fluctuates between the pain of desire on one side, and the boredom caused by the satisfaction of desire on the other.
